Voice and Text chat

Drivers are not permitted to address any driver directly over the radio (chat) this
also applies to text chat
Drivers are allowed to use the radio when directly addressing the in-race official
Drivers are allowed to use the radio to state intentions of pitting (not required)
Idle chat or non-race related chat will not be tolerated and will result in a black
flag penalty (1 lap hold) And no profanity.
( All drivers are required to be in the Vspeed Discord Channel prior to the session
switching from practice to qualifying) One team per TS channel unless it is the
lobby or pit road.
Starting this season we will have our pre-race drivers meeting in the "Pit Road"
channel of our teamspeak. All drivers are required to be at the drivers meeting.
Any driver not making the drivers meeting will start from pit road following a
multiple lap hold.

Truck Numbers

All drivers are required to set their iRacing.com preferred truck number identical
to the number they registered with Vspeed (number must match the number shown on
the Vspeed Contender Series member list)
Failure to set the number correctly results in no points acquired for the
associated event
Points penalty applies to the driver that caused the number issue (determined by
driver the join order for the session one driver with an incorrect number will
affect many others, therefore the first driver joining with an incorrect number is
the culprit and receives the penalty) Driver join order will be screen captured
each event

INCIDENTS

We will have a 13 inc limit. Once a driver reaches 13 inc's they will recieve a
drive through and every 5 inc's after that. No DQ's.

Gridding

Drivers are to remain in the race server prior to, and during, the automatic
transition from qualifying to the Warm up Session. Any driver who disconnects, for
any reason, during the Warm-up session and returns after the session has changed to
Race will be automatically assessed a 5-lap penalty to start the race issued by the
In-race official. o This penalty will be issued as a 1-lap hold on pit road during
the first lap of the race. The driver will be required to serve the penalty on the
first lap of the race. The penalized driver is to remain on pit road until he is
five laps down regardless of caution status on track. Should the driver leave prior
to the in-race official releasing the driver, the driver will be disqualified.
All drivers should grid as quickly as possible to facilitate race start procedures.
Should any drivers be issued an EOL to begin the race, they are to move to the
apron as quickly as possible and stop their vehicle until the field has passed. Any
driver issued an EOL penalty for a race start that does not stop and let the field
pass before rejoining the field will be issued a Stop/Go penalty at the start of
the race.
For tracks with no full-track apron (Martinsville, NHMS, etc.), drivers should move
as far left as possible as soon as possible. For road courses, driver should move
to the edge of the track or to the nearest paved run-off area to let the field past

Server Issues

Server issues where multiple drivers drop connection or fall through will
continue as scheduled. These incidents will be considered mechanical
failures which happen regularly in the real world. Drivers that rejoin the
server can work to regain as many of the lost positions as possible.
In the event an entire server crashes resulting in the expulsion of the whole
field, should the event be past 50% completed Vspeed will attempt to collect the
last lap running order (if no result is available) the event will be considered a
rain shortened event. Points will be distributed accordingly based on the available
information to Vspeed.

Start/Restart Procedures

Initial start will be on the iRacing.com green flag. Drivers will be assigned to the inside or outside lane by the iRacing.com system and are expected to maintain position in their respective lanes until their vehicle has crossed the start/finish
line. Cutting the racing surface onto the apron (below the white or yellow painted line) is considered off limits until after the start finish line. Penalties will be issued accordingly. For the initial start, the pole sitter does not have the option to choose the inside or outside lane. If the pole sitter receives an EOL penalty P2 becomes the control car. The control car is required to maintain a minimum speed equal to the posted pace car speed for the track. Failure to comply will result in a black flag being issued to the control car (in-race official will issue the black flag). Once the control car begins to accelerate it must continue to do so. Failure to comply will result in a black flag
being issued to the control car(in-race official will issue the black flag On restarts the control car will have the option to choose the inside or outside lane On restarts the control car controls the restart in the Vspeed restart zone (once the pace car has all 4 wheels off the racing surface)

All drivers are expected to maintain a reasonable distance between the truck in front of them. No laying back and anticipating the start.

No driver is allowed to change lanes until after the start finish line. Stay in your assigned lane. Unless it is to avoid an wreck, the truck in front of you spins the tires or misses a gear.

Pitting

When pitting under green drivers will exit the racing surface without excessively
braking in the racing line. Stating intentions to pit is not required, but the
option is now available due to chat being enabled. Stating intentions to pit
multiple times in succession will not be tolerated (Example: pitting pitting
pitting pitting). A last second decision to abort a pit stop under yellow or
green where the driver has passed the commitment cone (at some tracks such as Lucas
Oil Raceway this will be the grass divider) and comes back on the racing surface
may result in a penalty being issued by the in-race official.
When pitting under caution all drivers must enter pit road single file (failure to
comply will result in an EOL penalty)

When pitting under green or under caution, drivers are not allowed to drive
thru more than 6 pit stalls total.

When pitting under caution all drivers are to keep to the right as far as
possible. This will allow the drivers behind you a better line of sight into their
pit box.

Lapped Cars

All cars being passed by any car on the lead lap which results in the two cars
being scored on different laps (being lapped) are expected to choose a line
which does not impede the progress of the lead-lap car. Lapped vehicles are
expected to know which lane the lead-lap car is currently running and choose a
different lane. At most tracks, drivers will be expected to yield the lower racing
line to lead-lap cars. However, at tracks where the upper lanes are preferred,
lapped vehicles are expected to yield the lane in which the lead-lap car is running
(typically the upper lane). Should a driver repeatedly choose a lane that the
leaders are running, they will be asked by the IRB to be more aware in future
events. Should the driver ignore this request, they could be penalized for
subsequent infractions. Penalties for such infractions will be determined on a
case-by-case basis if necessary. For Super-Speedway events, all cars being passed
by any car on the lead lap which results in the two cars being scored on different
laps (being lapped ) must be above the upper-most set of painted hash marks
on the track surface. Failure to do so will result in a Stop/Go penalty.

Damaged Vehicle Policy

If a vehicle begins to emit smoke, the driver of the vehicle is expected to vacate
the racing surface as quickly and safely as possible. During green-flag racing, the
driver is expected to make an attempt to return to pit road and prevent a full
course caution. During a caution, the driver of the damaged vehicle is expected to
stop and get out of the vehicle as quickly as possible to prevent scoring issues.
If a vehicle cannot maintain pace speed under caution, or cannot conceivably catch
the end of the pacing line prior to the opening of pit road for lead-lap cars, the
driver is expected to stop and get out of the vehicle as quickly as possible
Damaged vehicles will be required to maintain a lap time that is 110% of the
current leader’s lap time at any time. Vehicles that cannot maintain this pace
will be issued a black flag to return to pit road for repairs. Should a vehicle
fail to meet the 110% pace requirement after two repair attempts, the vehicle will
be disqualified from the event. Drivers will be notified via in-race private chat
that they are not running at an acceptable pace. Penalties for such infractions
will be determined on a case-by-case basis if necessary

Blocking

Blocking , defined as any move intended to impede the forward progress of a
following car in an effort to prevent a pass, will be permitted under the following
guidelines. o Drivers will be permitted one (1) blocking maneuver in direct
response to an attempted pass. This maneuver must be continuous and in one lateral
direction only. A maneuver that is a continuous motion in one direction but in
which the driver slows lateral movement (without stopping lateral movement) before
increasing the speed of lateral movement will NOT be considered under the above
rule and will be deemed illegal. o Drivers are not permitted to make a defensive
movement under braking once braking input has been applied. Should a driver make
any significant movement in response to a trailing driver after braking input has
been applied, the driver will be penalized. Decided under the discretion of the InRace official. This will not be decided by location on the track (braking
zones) but through speed displays and vehicle pitch movement. Any driver
found in violation of the above rules will be given a pass-through penalty. Should
the in-race official feel the incident needs explanation, an explanation will be
provided post-race and available to all participants in the series. Intentional
Contact Intentional contact will be defined as any contact resulting from a
driver deviating from their typical, expected racing line. This includes braking
points, throttle points, and general path of travel for their vehicle. Driver
inputs will be determined from post-race replays. In the event a driver is
penalized for intentional contact, that driver will be given the opportunity to
provide their own replay (iRacing .rpy file only) with their own inputs during the
event as an appeal. The IRB can then decide to apply, reduce, or rescind the
applied penalties as a result of the appeal. o Any contact that the IRB does not
define as retaliatory (see below) but does define as intentional, and feels
is intentional based on events prior to the event in question (such as events in
previous races) will assign penalties purely based on the severity of the action.

Retaliation

Any contact that the IRB believes is an intentional direct response to a driver actions prior to the incident in question will be deemed Retaliatory contact. Driver inputs will be determined from post-race replays. In the event a driver is penalized for retaliatory contact, that driver will be given the opportunity to provide their own replay (iRacing .rpy file only) with their own
inputs during the event as an appeal. The IRB can then decide to apply, reduce, or
rescind the applied penalties as a result of the appeal. o NOTE: Retaliatory contact is, by definition, intentional contact and will be considered as
such when penalties are being applied.

Excessive Contact

Drivers who repeatedly make contact with other drivers, regardless of intent, will
be reviewed during the event or post race under the following guidelines: i. Any
driver who makes significant contact with the same driver twice (2 times) in the
same event 1. Significant will be at the discretion of the IRB ii. Any driver who makes avoidable contact with three (3) or more drivers in the same event
1. Drivers who draw a third caution in the same event will be disqualified
immediately iii. Any driver who, in the opinion of the IRB, is involved in multiple
incidents across multiple events as a result of a failure to maintain control of
their vehicle (avoidable contact)
Drivers who are being reviewed for excessive contact will be penalized in a manner
applicable with the incident(s) in question

Unprovoked Contact

Any driver who makes intentional contact with another driver that results in
significant damage to other cars involved, and neither driver has been involved in
incidents prior to the one in question will be reviewed under the guidelines for
Unprovoked contact. o Any contact during the event can be deemed unprovoked. This includes prior to the start of the event (during pacing) and after the event
(cool-down laps). o Any and All contact deemed unprovoked and intentional by the
IRB will result in the committing drivers disqualification from the next event.
This can carry over to the following season to avoid the final race of the season
becoming a free for all of retaliation. o In the event that unprovoked contact is committed by a driver who is on the same team as a driver who was
involved in an incident with the targeted driver, the driver committing the
unprovoked contact will be suspended for the next event. Example: Drivers A and B
are on a team. Drivers B and C make contact early in the race, then Driver A makes
intentional contact with Driver C late in the race. Driver A will be suspended for
the following event. Spins In the event a driver has lost control, the driver is
required to spin the car out of the flow of traffic and continue this motion until
the vehicle has stopped.
For all ovals, this is to the left towards the infield areas.
For road courses, a driver should continue in the direction in which the vehicle
began to spin. Any driver who is spinning out of the flow of traffic and returns to
the flow of traffic (snaps to the right, for example) and makes contact with
another car will be disqualified from the event.

Penalties

Penalties from incidents reviewed under the guidelines above can be assigned from
(but not limited to) the following:
Penalty applied to the drivers Championship Points total
Disqualification from the event in question by in-race official or IRB review (all
points forfeited)
Single or multiple race suspensions (determined by the IRB)
Penalties can be issued by the in-race official during the next event if necessary,
such as being held a lap, black flags of varying levels (timed hold, lap count hold
etc)
As mentioned, the severity of the incident will be considered when issuing
penalties to drivers.
A single attempt will be made by the IRB to notify recipients of penalties before
they are made public. The attempt will be issued via iRacing.com message system.
Generally this will be done by the Saturday following the event in question

After 13 inc's you will be given a drive thru penalty( it may be a stop and
go not 100% sure ATM ) and another penalty every 5 inc's after the first 13. No
DQ's for inc's.

Precedence

When a penalty is issued for an incident, the penalty assigned will not be deemed
as precedent for such an incident.
Should two incidents have the same circumstances, results, and severity, the IRB
will assign the penalty issued to the driver in the first incident to the driver
involved in the second incident.
Should two incidents have the same results and severity, but not the same
circumstances (i.e. various prior actions); precedent will not be considered while
applying penalties.
In the event that an issued penalty is not strong enough to deter subsequent
actions, penalties will be issued with increasing severity until the actions cease
without regard to precedent.

Appeals

When pitting under green drivers will exit the racing surface without excessively
braking in the racing line. Stating intentions to pit is not required, but the
option is now available due to chat being enabled. Stating intentions to pit
multiple times in succession will not be tolerated (Example: pitting pitting
pitting pitting). A last second decision to abort a pit stop under yellow or
green where the driver has passed the commitment cone (at some tracks such as Lucas
Oil Raceway this will be the grass divider) and comes back on the racing surface
may result in a penalty being issued by the in-race official.
When pitting under caution all drivers must enter pit road single file (failure to
comply will result in an EOL penalty) When pitting under caution drivers are not
permitted to drive through more than 5 pit stalls (failure to comply will result in
an EOL penalty)

Post Race Report

The IRB will provide a post-race report of all recorded incidents during an event.
This report will include a description of any incident that resulted in a Caution
period, the drivers involved in the incident, and any penalties issued during the
event over the resulting caution period.
The report will also feature a “Notes†section for any further explanation or
anything the IRB feels is pertinent to the event, such as rule updates or
clarifications for penalties.
This report will be available to all team owners upon release.

Race Officials

An in-race official will oversee official, points-scoring events. o The in-race
official has the ability to call for a yellow-flag Caution period under the

following conditions:
If the sim fails to enter a Caution period following a multi-car accident
This does not include single-car spins
If a situation occurs that would warrant a Caution period (car slow on track,
scoring issues, etc.) o The in-race official has the ability to issue penalties
during the event for events such as (but not limited to):
- Restart violations
- Pit violations
- Retaliatory contact
- Unprovoked contact
The in-race official will communicate to all drivers via @RACECONTROL and/or
through private text chat. Drivers are expected to be scanning both @RACECONTROL
and @PRIVATE at all times and the in-race official will assume that all drivers
receive what is transmitted through those channels.
The IRB will provide a post-race report of all recorded incidents during an event.
This report will include a description of any incident that resulted in a Caution
period, the drivers involved in the incident, and any penalties issued during the
event over the resulting caution period.
The report will also feature a Notes section for any further explanation or anything the IRB feels is pertinent to the event, such as rule updates or
clarifications for penalties.
This report will be available to all team owners upon release.

Pit Lane Special Circumstances

If a driver involved in an incident and spins down pit lane and receives a penalty
from the iRacing.comrace control system, the in-race official will clear his
penalty
Drivers using the pit lane to avoid an accident where the track is blocked will
have their penalties cleared by the in-race official In-Race Official
